Cell Phones May Be Linked to Cancer – Read Bloom’s Survival Tips!

It is quite obvious that the usage of cell phones has heavily increased over the past decade.  With today’s technology of “smart phones” we are not only using our cell phones to call one another, but also to search the internet, answer emails, play games, and of course – to check Facebook. With the increased use of cell phones, we also increase our exposure to radio frequency and electromagnetic fields, which have recently been linked with an increase risk of brain cancer.

A recent article reported by the World Health Organization (WHO), has stated that cell phones are possibly carcinogenic to humans. The WHO released a study in 2010 that “found some evidence of an increase in glioma and acoustic neuroma brain cancer for mobile phone users.” This study was conducted on people who used cell phones for over 10 years. While the findings of the study are still being researched, Dr. Keith Black, the chairman of neurology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center brought up an excellent point stating “The biggest problem is that we know most environmental factors take several decades of exposure before we really see the consequences.” He likens the effects of cell phones on the brain to what happens to food in microwaves – “essentially cooking the brain.”

These findings released by the WHO, have instigated much attention to the possible harmful effects of cell phone use that could be detrimental to all of us.  As Dr. Black mentioned, the research on the potential harm of long-term radiation exposure will take multiple years to conduct and we may not know the findings until our children are grown and it may be too late. Toxins in Your Mouth

One area you may not have thought about for toxic exposures is in your own mouth. Did you know that many cutting edge researchers who are trying to make the link between our environment and our cancer risk are now paying more and more attention to our dental health? We know we need to try to eat organic and limit the amount of toxins we put on our body, but we must also not forget about the importance of our mouths and what toxins could be lurking there. Some of the things to consider is how well we take care of our teeth and work to prevent dental disease, but also what we are allowing our dentists to put into our mouths.

Just this last February, the British Dental Health Foundation released a report from Sweden evaluating 3,000 patients. Women with tooth loss or gum disease were found to be 11 times more likely to develop breast cancer. Other studies have also found a possible connection between mercury and other metals found in amalgam fillings and breast tumors. Many European countries have recently banned the use of amalgam fillings due to health risks.

Why Detox?

Detox, short for detoxification, is the body’s natural, ongoing process of neutralizing or eliminating toxins from the body. Toxins are anything that can potentially harm body tissue, including waste products that result from normal cell activity, such as ammonia, lactic acid and homocysteine, and human-made toxins that we are exposed to in our environment, food, and water. The liver, intestines, kidneys, lungs, skin, blood and lymphatic systems work together to ensure that toxins are transformed chemically to less harmful compounds and excreted from the body.

Chromium and Blood Sugar

Chromium is a trace mineral that assists with burning carbohydrates and fat. It helps provide energy producing blood sugar to the body’s cells and may increase sensitivity to insulin.
